Service categories help organize your services, making it easier for clients to find what they need when booking online. Learn how to create, organize, and manage service categories effectively.
Service categories
Creating service categories helps clients easily find and select services when booking online. Start by deciding which types of services to group together.
To create a new service category:
- Desktop
- Mobile
To create a new service category:
- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- From the Service menu, click on the Add button and select Category.
- Enter a Category name. For example, "Hair Color Services”.
- Select an Appointment color to help visually identify services within the category in the calendar.
- Add a Description to provide details about the services within the category.
- Click Add to save the category.
Check your Time and calendar settings to set how colors are displayed.
To create a new service category:
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Settings.
- Under the Workspace settings list, select Catalog and then Service menu.
- Tap (+) Add and then select Category from the options.
- Enter a Category name. For example, "Hair Color Services”.
- Select an Appointment color to help visually identify services within the category in the calendar.
- Add a Description to provide details about the services within the category.
- Tap Add to save the category.
Check your Time and calendar settings to set how colors are displayed.
Use the search bar in the Service menu to find specific services by location and more.

Rearranging categories and services

To define the order your services will appear to clients when booking online:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Click on Manage order from the menu bar.
- To rearrange categories only, set the dropdown filter to Categories only.
- Drag and drop the categories to arrange them.
- Click Save.

Add services and packages to categories

To add services or packages to a category:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category, select Actions.
- Choose Add service or Add package.
- Fill out the details.
- Click Save.

- Next to the relevant category, select Actions (the three dots).
- Choose Add service or Add package.
- Fill out the details.
- Tap Save.
Regularly update category and service descriptions for accuracy and to highlight promotions.
Edit categories

To edit a service category:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category, select Actions, then Edit.
- Make changes to the category details as needed.
- Click Save.

- Make changes to the category details as needed.
- Tap Save.
Archive categories
Temporarily archive categories that are out of use or unavailable to clients, such as seasonal services.

To archive a service category:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category, select Actions, then Archive.
- Select Archive all to reconfirm.

- Next to the relevant category, select Actions (the three dots) then Archive.
- Select Archive all to reconfirm.
Unarchive categories

To unarchive a service category:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Click on Filters from the search bar.
- Under Status, select Archived and Apply.
- Next to the archived category, click Actions, then Unarchive.
- Select Unarchive to reconfirm.
To unarchive a service category:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Tap on Filters from the search bar on the right.
- Under Status, select Archived and Apply.
- Next to the archived category, tap Actions, then Unarchive.
- Select Unarchive to reconfirm.
Deleting categories
Categories need to be archived before they can be deleted from the service list.

To delete a service category:
- Archive the category as described above.
- In the Service menu, select Filters from the search bar.
- Under Status, select Archived, then Apply.
- Next to the archived category, click Actions, then Permanently delete.
- Select Delete all to reconfirm.
Any services or packages within a category will also be permanently deleted from your service menu.
To delete a service category:
- Archive the category as described above.
- In the Service menu, select Filters from the search bar on the right.
- Under Status, select Archived, then Apply.
- Next to the archived category, tap Actions, then Permanently delete.
- Select Delete all to reconfirm.
Deleting a category is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure the category is no longer needed before deleting.
