Getting started
Services are the first thing clients choose when booking online. Follow these steps to ensure they’re added to your calendar correctly:
- Add your team members and invite them to join your workspace.
- Create resources to allocate to services if needed.
- Create categories for your services to be organized into.
- Publish your online profile to allow clients to book services online.
Creating a single service
Add a new service to your list of treatments by building a detailed profile to store and manage key information.
Add basic service details
To add the basic details of a new single service:
- Open the Catalog and select Service menu.
- Click Add and select Single service.

Under Basic details, enter:
- Service name
- Service type
- Menu category
- Short description to help clients understand the service

Under Pricing and duration, use the dropdowns to enter:
- Duration: Time needed to perform the service.
- Price type: Set the price as Free, Fixed or starting From.
- Price: The price of the service.

If the service requires processing time, enable the Extra time toggle and configure:
- Type: Either Processing time or Blocked time after each appointment.
- Duration: Additional time needed after the service.
- Click Save or continue to allocate locations to the service.

Allocate locations to services
If you have multiple locations, the option to allocate the service to a specific one will be available.
To choose the locations where this service will take place:
- Continue from adding Basic details or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Locations from the menu.
- Check the box next to each location where the service is available or select All locations.
- Click Save or continue to allocate team members.
Allocate team members to services
To choose which team members can perform the service:
- Continue from allocating Locations or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Team members from the menu.
- Check the box next to each team member that can perform the service or select All team members.
- Click Save or continue to assign and add resources.
Assign resources to services
To allocate resources to the service, where needed:
- Continue from allocating Team members or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Resources from the menu.
- Use the toggle to enable resource allocation.
- Check the box next to each required resource.
- If needed, create additional resources by selecting Add resource, entering the name and description, and clicking Save.
- Click Save or continue to update the online booking settings.
Allow online bookings for the service
If your business is in a country with paid features, clients can book your services online via Fresha’s marketplace, social pages, and custom links. To enable online bookings, click Start now to create and publish your online profile.
To enable clients to book the service online:
- Continue from assigning Resources or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Online booking from the menu.
- Use the toggle to enable Online bookings.
- Under Available for, specify the service availability by gender.

Check the boxes for Upselling options for additional services and memberships:
- Service upselling: Offer clients additional services to add to their appointments. Select Edit under services and apply up to five services. Add a Discount value that will be applied to the upsold services.
- Memberships: Add a specific membership to be suggested to the client when they select the service. Choose the Cheapest or a Custom membership using the dropdowns.
- Click Save or continue to update the commission settings.
Allow commissions to be earned on services
Calculate team member commission when the service is sold. If your business is in a country with paid features, upgrade to the Team Pay add-on to access commissions.
To enable commissions for a service:
- Continue from updating Online booking settings or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Commissions from the menu.
- Enable the toggle to calculate commission for team members when a service is sold.
- Click Save or continue to update the service settings.
Update specific service settings
To configure the service settings:
- Continue from adding updating Commissions or open the Service menu, select Add and Single service.
- Click on Settings from the menu.

Under Settings, check the box next to Require upfront payments and enter a value to avoid no-shows.
- Check the box next to Require patch test to show a patch test requirement when creating appointments with the service.
- Under Notifications, update the notification preferences associated with the service:
- Aftercare instructions: Include an Aftercare description with additional instructions for clients post-treatment. This will be included in the thank you email sent after their appointment.
- Reminder to rebook notifications: Choose to remind clients to rebook the service and set a timeframe for when the reminder is sent. For example, 4 weeks after the initial service booking.

Configure the following Advanced settings:
- Sales tax: Select Edit to update the sales tax settings for each location to use your default tax settings or include or exclude taxes.
- Cost of service: Set the cost incurred by your business for delivering the service, like the cost of materials used for the service.
- Click Save.
Once all fields are filled out and saved, the new service will be available for booking immediately.

Q. Can I create a package service?
Yes, when adding a new item to your Service menu, select Package instead of Single Service and follow our guide on creating packages.
Q. Can I edit a service after it has been created?
Yes, open the Service menu, select the service you want to edit, make the necessary changes, and click Save.
Q. How do I manage the order of my services?
Open the Service menu and drag and drop the services to rearrange them into your preferred order.
Q. Can I disable a service temporarily?
Yes, open the Service menu, click on the three dots next to the service and select Archive. Learn more about Archiving and deleting services. You cannot archive or delete a service within a package.
Q. What is the difference between processing time and block time?
Processing time allows team members to be free for other bookings while the client waits. Block time adds a gap for team members between appointments for cleaning or preparation.
