Top up your text message balance

Maximize client communications using your text messages balance to send messaging automations. Learn how your free monthly text message allowance works and how to enable automatic top-ups to make sure your text balance never runs out.

Text messages are the most effective way to reach clients. Before you begin managing your text message balance, make sure you: 

How text messages balance works

Enhance your client communication by using your text messages balance to send messaging automations.

Your text messaging balance consists of a monthly quota provided by Fresha and an optional balance top up. These allowances are managed separately for flexibility. Here's how it works:

  • Free monthly allowance:
    You’ll receive a free quota of text messages every month. This number is based on your account activity and is automatically renewed on the 1st of each month. For example, if your allowance is 20 messages and you use only 10, you will have 20 messages available again starting on the 1st of the next month.
  • Balance top up:
    If you need more than the monthly free text message allowance, you can purchase additional text messages by topping up manually on the go or setting up automatic top ups. These purchased messages do not expire and will remain in your balance until they are used, irrespective of the monthly reset.

NOTE: Email automated messages are free to send and do not require a balance or allowance.

Topping up your text messages manually 

If you need more than your free monthly allowance, you can make a one-time purchase to cover your immediate text message needs for an immediate boost. To top-up your text messages balance: 

  1. Open your Business settings and select Text messages.
  2. Review the current number of text messages remaining for the month. 
  3. Click Top up and select One-time purchase, then Next step.
  4. Under “Top up text balance by”, enter the number of text messages you want to add.
  5. Review your Payment method. You can Change the card on file or use your Fresha credits.
  6. Review the total cost within your Order summary
  7. Click Pay to finalize your payment and order. 

Enabling automatic text message top

You can set up repeat payments so that your text messages always keep sending. To enable automatic top-ups: 

  1. Open your Business settings and select Text messages.
  2. Review the current number of text messages remaining for the month. 
  3. Click Top up and select Automatic top-ups, then Next step.
  4. Under “Top up by”, enter the number of text messages you want to add and set a threshold for when the top-up should trigger. For example, when your balance drops to 10 messages.
  5. Review your Payment method or Change the card on file if needed.
  6. Review the total cost within your Order summary.
  7. Click Enable to finalize the automatic top-up.

NOTE: Paid top-ups carry over month-to-month and do not expire, separate from your free monthly allotment which resets.

Updating automatic text message top ups

You can update your enable automatic top-up setting at any time. To update automatic top ups: 

  1. Open your Business settings and select Text messages.
  2. Review the current automatic text message settings and select Edit
  3. Make the necessary changes and click Save.

Disabling automatic text message top ups

If automatic top-ups are disabled, your text message balance may run out. This will cause your text messages to stop sending. To disable automatic top ups: 

  1. Open your Business settings and select Text messages.
  2. Review the current automatic text message settings. 
  3. Click on the three dots and select Disable auto top-ups or click Edit and select Disable
  4. Click Disable now to reconfirm your selection.

Q. How do I check my current text message balance?
Your current balance is visible under Text messages in your Business settings and will update on the 1st of every month.


Q. What happens if I don't use all my free text messages in a month?
Unused messages from your free balance do not carry over; your balance resets to the full amount every month. Paid top-ups carry over month-to-month and do not expire.


Q. Can I change my top-up settings at any time?
Yes, you can adjust or cancel your top-up settings anytime from your Text messages settings.


Q. Is there a fee for emails?
No, Fresha allows you to send emails at no cost.


Q. What should I do if I encounter payment issues?
Contact Fresha support via the contact us form using your registered email and provide us with:

  • Cardholder name
  • Card type (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc)
  • Last four digits of the card (do not share your CVV)
  • The name of the bank the card is registered with
