Using smart pricing is a great way to balance the demand for appointments while generating more sales and gaining more value. We’ll take you through all the steps needed to manage smart pricing, from editing to reviewing reports.

Managing smart pricing explained
Smart pricing is an enhanced feature that automatically adjusts your online service prices in two ways:
Surge pricing increases online service prices during peak periods to maximise value.
Off-peak pricing reduces online service prices to encourage more sales during quiet periods.
When setting up smart pricing, you‘ll need to create pricing rules which allow you to:
- Change prices during specific times on selected days
- Configure price changes by locations, services and team members
You may want to edit, pause or clear these after the initial setup. This can be done at any time in a just couple of steps.
Getting started
Once you've initially set up smart pricing, managing this is a breeze. You won’t need to prep anything in advance to get started.
How to edit smart pricing
- Go to Engage and select Smart pricing.
- Next to the location, click on Actions and select Edit.
- Re-select team members that can be booked under smart pricing.
- Re-select services that smart pricing will apply to.
- Where needed, change your smart pricing rules:
Day -
select the days for smart pricing to apply.
Time intervals - use the drop-down menus to enter when appointments are available with the smart pricing. You can add up to three intervals by clicking Add hours, making sure they don’t overlap.
Prisendring - use the drop-down menu to select whether you want the price to increase or decrease.
Endre med - select a value and enter how much you want the price to increase or reduce by. - Click Update setup to finish
How to pause or clear smart pricing
- Go to Engage and select Smart pricing.
- Next to the location, click on Actions.
- Choose from the following options:
Pause - | this temporarily disables smart pricing. Confirm your selection by clicking Yes, pause smart pricing. You can unpause by following the same steps. |
Clear - |
this completely removes smart pricing. Confirm your selection by clicking Yes, clear smart pricing. This action is irreversible and cannot be recovered once cleared. |
How to restore smart pricing
- Go to Notifications and select Appointments.
- Select the relevant appointment.
- Click on the Service to view full details.
- Under the price, you’ll see that smart pricing was applied.
- Click on Restore price to change the price to the regular retail price.
- Click on Apply to save.
How to review smart pricing reports
- Go to Engage and select Smart pricing.
- At the top of the page, you’ll be able to track your smart pricing performance in two ways:
Chart view:
Regular pricing - | the retail price of your services. These will apply during all regular hours when smart pricing isn’t set up. |
Surge pricing - |
where smart pricing has been set up to increase the online service price during your busy hours to maximise value. |

where smart pricing has been set up to reduce the online service price to encourage more sales. |
Values:
Smart pricing appointment value - | the total value amount made by all appointments where at least one service has smart pricing applied. |

Fresha’s top tips
🟣 You can edit smart pricing for multiple locations at the same time. Click on Options in the top right corner and select Edit all locations. Any edits you make to selected locations here will override any current settings that a location has.
🟣 Clearing your smart pricing is irreversible and your preferences cannot be recovered once cleared. You’ll need to set up smart pricing again to enable this.
🟣 Special pricing can be paused or cleared for all locations at the same time. Click on Options in the top right corner and select Pause all locations or Clear all locations.

How do clients see smart pricing when booking online?

- If you have smart pricing set up, your online service prices will automatically adjust and show as follows:

For off-peak pricing, the relevant time slots will appear showing the reduced price and value e.g. ‘50% off
£10£5’ - For surge pricing, the relevant time slots will appear at the increased price e.g. a service that is usually £5, will appear as '£7.50' if you have set a 50% increase.

How will I know which appointments have been booked with smart pricing?

- You’ll be able to see whether an appointment has been booked with smart pricing. To see this, access the appointment and click on the service to view more details. Under the price, it will state whether a smart pricing increase or decrease has been applied, along with the value e.g. 50% smart price increase.
Can I add more discounts to smart pricing?

- You can only add a discount on services with smart pricing where the price has been increased. To do this, access the Appointment and click on the Service. Next to the price, use the Discount drop-down to apply a discount and click Apply.
What is the minimum time I can offer smart pricing?

- When setting up your smart pricing rules, the minimum time interval is five minutes. The maximum value smart pricing can change by is 1000%.
Can I edit smart pricing once it has been set up?

- You can edit smart pricing once it has been set up. For this, select Actions next to the location where you’ll have the option to Edit, Pause or Clear the smart pricing.
Will smart pricing still apply if my client reschedules?

- If a client has an appointment with smart pricing, this will be removed from the service if they choose to reschedule to a time slot where special pricing is not available.
Managing smart pricing summary
You’re up to speed with managing smart pricing for your locations. If you find that there's a change to your appointment activity, adapt your smart pricing setting through the Engage tab, selecting Actions to either, edit pause or clear them. Remember, you can save time when making bulk changes for all locations by selecting Options. Keep track of your smart pricing performance using the reporting chart which can provide great insight when adjusting your smart pricing rules for the best results.
